I could have sworn there was something in this section about community gardens but couldn't seem to find it. I think Denton's Parks and Rec Department has been doing a great job trying to keep up with the communities needs for parks and facilities but our neighborhoods should also help out. Many of the parks while relatively functional...are pretty sad looking and most have plenty of open land and space that neighborhoods could help utilize for planting things. There is also an issue with waste at many of the parks so I think that the city should work with the neighborhoods and perhaps other organizations such as KDB and have an event where oeple can come out and help clean up and plant things in their neighborhoods parks. This would help connect people to their neighborhoods and cities and be a great activity for their whole family.
