One way to promote the Plan would be to tell people about the meetings that are starting TODAY. If you want people to show up, you need to promote the meetings. Get DRC to do a blurb on it. Create Facebook Events and send invites. Don't just make a single twitter update 24 hours before the event. Put up posters downtown and email neighborhood groups, businesses, etc.

The City really needs to hire someone who has a clue about social media. Why are there not FB events for major public meetings? People share, invite, and spread events for you, it's the power of social media. Also, if the City doesn't make the events then the groups that do make the events control the message. Who lets the Denton PD tweet long paragraphs broken up as 140 character sentences? They need training, 1 idea = 1 tweet. Include a link if there is more info. Why are comments automatically deleted from all Denton social media systems? FB etc., all have strong controls in place to prevent abuse and deleting citizen comments turns a concerned citizen who is trying to get information or help into an angry citizen who feels like they've been silenced.
